Turning bismuth into a hybrid raindrop with the help of some Australian mallee burl and epoxy resin. If you’re unfamiliar with bismuth (just like I was) , it’s a chemical element with the symbol Bi and atomic number 83. Bismuth is a post-transition metal and one of the pnictogens, with chemical properties resembling its lighter group 15 siblings, arsenic and antimony. (Though, to be honest, I still don’t fully understand what it is! Haha.)

After some wood preparation I glued the bismuth onto the burl and was casted in epoxy resin. When the resin fully cured, I shaped it on my woodturning lathe. Sanded to high grit and polished to glass lookalike finish.
